Day 5/5: Usual end of the stay – the whipped cream in Pirigen is still delicious with the new owners, too.

Day 4/5: After years of not doing it, we once again had a nice decent south of Stelli. Back up again and superb ride down the “gorge” of the Stelli. Later in the afternoon a quick tour up the Seehorn. Continue reading ‘Fondei: Stelli – Seehorn’
Day 3/5: Sunny! And windy! Lots of wind…
Day 2/5: The sun leads the way first up to Piz Fondei, in the afternoon up Zenjiflue. From time to time with good snow.
Day 1/5: Ascent, setting up, short trip to Kleiner Piz Fondei.
A quick tour on the border of the always present fog: mystical atmosphere, bluest sky above, light snow. My 1st real snow shoe tour and the 1st time i got to see a halo – nice! It worked out: a combination of the Schopfenspitz & the Patraflon, in the region of Schwarzsee. Weather alright, snow above average, 1st lines for the most part, good company (thanks for coming along!), strenous traverse over to Patraflon but all in all certainly a wortwhile combination. The original plan was to climb the imposing Albristhorn. But since there was “extended” wind, lots of snow drifts and the avalanche situation was also a bit critical, it was probably the right decision to instead have a nice, short walk up to the little neighbour, the Albristhubel. The foehn, interesting (to say the least…) snow and a small forest barrier made it an enjoyable tour all the same. Later back down to Matte for a Coupe Nesselrode.
