Alpine week: Refuge des Conscrits

20090811_12Next up: Ascent to the Refuge des Conscrits. Very nice hut, nice personal, good food and great surroundings, first time in the French alps! Continue reading ‘Alpine week: Refuge des Conscrits’

Capanna Buffalora: I Corn de Golin, Piz de l’Ardion & Fil de Dragiva

20090709_48A nice tour ’round, ’round the Capanna Buffalora with some nice steps in the higher T-grades. After that a cold drink again and back down: A really, really nice spot of Switzerland, calm, rugged, wild – always worth a visit! (especially when my sister runs the hut ;-) ) Continue reading ‘Capanna Buffalora: I Corn de Golin, Piz de l’Ardion & Fil de Dragiva’

Capanna Buffalora: Sunrise on Passo Buffalora & Hauling Stuff

20090709_21

Next day: Getting up (bloody cold in that small hut, brrr…), sunrise, hanging around and helping out a bit, then descent back down, drove Mirjam to Bellinzona, shopping and hauling the quite heavy sack back up to the Buffalora hut, shower, sleep… Continue reading ‘Capanna Buffalora: Sunrise on Passo Buffalora & Hauling Stuff’

Capanna Buffalora: Ascent

20090709_14We, Mirjam and me, visited my sister Susanne and Philipp up in the Buffalora hut. They were up there as hut keepers: Cooking, cleaning, organizing, financing – all this for 20 persons. Great surroundings, mountains and trees. And: great meal, clean hut, very nice people ;-) Continue reading ‘Capanna Buffalora: Ascent’

Niesen

20090626_13A little condition tour: From Wimmis up the northwest-ridge to the Niesen (T4). On the top with rain. In quite an acceptable time, to be back on time and ready for “The Trip” i took the easy way down with the cable car. Then, to appreciate the experience, i hitchhiked back some kilometers. Continue reading ‘Niesen’

Chällihorn – Euschelsflue – Kaiseregg

20090625_17Back in Schwarzsee, quite a challenging hike over the Euschelsflue from the Chällihorn. Great weather, sweaty, quick descent from Kaiseregg. Still a little tired and with a bit of hangover from the 2 years end party the day before, but hey: It’s great to be out there again… Continue reading ‘Chällihorn – Euschelsflue – Kaiseregg’

Geissflue – Ruine Frohburg

20090623_07Just about 2 hours after my last exam, i was back in business: On my way home i quickly did a little detour at Olten over the Geissflue and the Ruine Frohburg – not very remote and alpine-like, but still some quite challenging steps (around T5). My “get back in shape”-project was set off ;-) Continue reading ‘Geissflue – Ruine Frohburg’

Zwingherrenbogen

20090517_17A great day out in sheer remoteness just a few steps away from towns and houses with views to the “Holy Trinity” of the Berner Oberland, nice clear and very fresh water, a hike through it and not-so-easy-to-find paths. The Zwingherrenbogen itself is quite unique, offers views over the blooming woods and isolation. Sunshine and warm weather, with good company and sweat at least on my forehead – the exams at least for some hours seemed far, far away. Continue reading ‘Zwingherrenbogen’

Creux du Van – Gorges d’Areuse

20090413_07Nice hike in the Jura: From Noiraigue up to Creux du Van. Very impressive, quite unusual for Switzerland. A windy lunch, some photo shot, descend over snow (thankfully with sneakers…) down to the Gorges d’Areuse, half-way with train back. Continue reading ‘Creux du Van – Gorges d’Areuse’
